Araneta City campaigns for inclusivity, education with "Be You Here" Pride Month exhibit

Araneta City joins the Pride Month festivity with a vibrant display of support for the LGBTQIA+ Community at the Quantum Skyview in Gateway Mall 2 on June 24.

The event was marked with the opening of the Be You Here: Understanding, Sharing & Celebrating the Rainbow Pride Flag Exhibit and Rainbow Arc, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Araneta City Vice President for Marketing Marjorie Go, TLF Share Executive Director Anastacio Marasigan, and Quezon City Councilor and Chairperson of the Committee on Women, Family Relations, and Gender Equality Maria Eleanor “Ellie” Juan.

“We believe that everyone deserves to feel welcome, respected, and free to express themselves authentically here at the City of Firsts. This has been an important endeavor for us to create a safe space for our LGBTQIA+ friends, families, neighbors, and everyone.” Go said as she welcomed the public to the celebration.

The event was made more festive by exciting performances, starting with an electrifying dance number from the award-winning Addlib Dance Company. The crowd sang along with Taylor Swift’s songs through the applause-worthy impersonation of Taylor Sheesh. Then the crowd exploded with cheer and danced with the explosive performances of drag superstars Precious Paula Nicole, Brigiding, and Vinas Deluxe, collectively known as The Divine Divas.

“This Pride Month, let us celebrate the vibrant tapestry of our community. Let us raise our voices in support of equality and acceptance. Let Araneta City continue to be a beacon of hope, a place where everyone feels safe to be themselves and pursue their dreams.” Go added.

The Be You Here: Understanding, Sharing & Celebrating the Rainbow Pride Flag Exhibit and Rainbow Arc is an initiative of Araneta City to inform the public about the diversity and vibrancy of LGBTQIA+ identities and the fluid expression of oneself. The exhibit is open to the public until June 28 and from June 30 to July 5 in Gateway Mall 2
